POKÉMON
Pokémon is a Japanese media franchise consisting of video games, animated series and films, a trading card game and other related media. The franchise is set in a shared universe in which humans coexist with creatures known as Pokémon, a wide variety of species with special powers. In the anime series and movies, Ash Ketchum stars with Pikachu. A Pokémon is fantasy creature with magical powers. There are many different species and new ones are still being invented. Other well-known Pokémon are Eevee, Charizard, Mew, Squirtle and Bulbasaur.
Pokémon was conceived by Satoshi Tajiri in 1991. In his youth, Tajiri liked to go looking for insects in the nearby area of his home, a hobby he later used in inventing Pokémon. This happened because he saw children walking around with a Game Boy. This gave him the idea of insects, which would crawl across a wire from one Game Boy system to another. The idea for Capsule Monsters was born. Nintendo sponsored the development of the first game. Some of the first Pokémon are: Pikachu, Mew, Meowth, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.
