Department 56 is a brand known for its highly detailed, lighted Christmas villages and other collectibles for the holidays. It originated as part of Bachman’s, a Minneapolis florist. Bachman’s assigned a numbering system “56” to their wholesale gift-import department, according to Department 56. Today, the brand is an industry leader in gift items, collectibles and Christmas decorations. It’s known for its handmade villages, Snowbabies figurines and various decorative items, Department 56 said. The brand offers a variety of village series, including the Disney Village, Dickens Village and Harry Potter Village, each with its own unique theme and architectural style.
