PIXAR

The collaboration between Disney and Pixar has produced an array of groundbreaking animated films. Pixar is known for both technical innovation and compelling storytelling. Founded in the 1980s, the company became a pioneer in computer animation. It produced the first feature-length computer animated film, Toy Story (1995). Disney later acquired Pixar, which spawned iconic films such as Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Ratatouille, praised for their memorable characters and sophisticated stories. Disney and Pixar films are also recognizable by their signature “Easter Eggs. An ‘Easter Egg’ is a hidden reference to previously released Disney and/or Pixar films, e.g. crab Sebastian in Aladdin, Rapunzel walking across the bridge in Frozen and Mrs. Potts in Tarzan.

Pixar has produced 29 feature films, the first being Toy Story (1995), which was also the first fully computer-animated feature film, and the most recent being Elio (2025). The studio also produced many short films. As of July 2023, their feature films have grossed more than $15 billion at the box office worldwide with an average gross of $589 million per film. Toy Story 3 (2010), Finding Dory (2016), Incredibles 2 (2018), Toy Story 4 (2019) and Inside Out 2 (2024) all grossed more than $1 billion and are among the 50 most profitable films of all time. In addition, 15 of Pixar’s films are among the 50 most profitable animated films of all time. As of August 2025, Inside Out 2 was the second most profitable animated film of all time.
