POCAHONTAS

The Disney film tells the story of the Indian princess Pocahontas and the explorer John Smith. An English ship sails to North America to found a colony and search for gold. One of those on board is John Smith. Pocahontas is told that the warrior Kocoum has asked for her hand, but she feels nothing for it. She asks Grandmother Willow, a talking tree, for advice. The latter tells Pocahontas to listen to her heart. Shortly thereafter, the British colonists arrive. Pocahontas becomes curious and she decides to take a look with her raccoon Meeko and the hummingbird Flit. When John Smith explores the area, Pocahontas follows him. She is discovered by Smith and the two immediately click and fall in love. Pocahontas makes John realize that Indians are not at all such savages as people in John’s country think.
