LION KING
On the African savannah, King Mufasa’s son is born…. the lion cub Simba. Mandril Rafiki proudly shows the future king to the frenzied animal kingdom. Simba’s uncle Scar is less enthusiastic. Until Simba’s birth, he was the heir to the throne. Simba grows up with his friend Nala and receives life lessons from the Red-billed Hornbill Zazu.
Uncle Scar tells Simba that his father is waiting for him in the gorge. It’s a trap. When Scar’s henchmen, the hyenas, chase a herd of wildebeest into the gorge, Simba is in danger. Scar “warns” Mufasa, who immediately runs to the gorge to save his son. Simba is rescued, but Mufasa himself struggles to get out of the ravine. When Mufasa begs his brother for help, the latter betrays him and the king plunges into the ravine and dies.
Scar blames Simba and advises him to flee. Disconsolate and frightened, the young lion gets lost. Overtired, he is found by meerkat Timon and his friend warthog Pumbaa. The two take care of Simba and make sure he lives a carefree, but vegetarian life. Hakuna Matata.
Meanwhile, Scar is conducting a reign of terror and has appointed himself king. He has led the others to believe that Simba too has died in the gorge. All the food soon runs out and little is left of the once beautiful kingdom. Nala has grown into a powerful young lioness, who goes in search of help and food. To her surprise, she meets Simba and the two fall madly in love. Nala tells Simba what is going on at home , but he does not dare to return.
Rafiki also goes in search of Simba. He convinces him to return to the kingdom with the help of and trust in his deceased ancestors. Together with Nala, the other lionesses, Pumbaa and Timon, Simba goes into battle with his uncle. Good wins over evil and Simba is crowned the true Lion King.
