THE RESCUERS

The Rescuers is a 1977 Disney animated film about the Rescue Aid Society, an international mouse organization that helps kidnapping victims. The story follows timid but well-meaning janitor Bernard and his sophisticated co-agent, Miss Bianca, as they try to rescue Penny, an orphan girl kidnapped by the villainous Madame Medusa. Medusa is a treasure hunter who forces Penny to find the world’s largest diamond in the dangerous Devil’s Bayou. Bernard and Bianca travel to the swamp and encounter local animals and Medusa’s crocodile henchmen in a thrilling attempt to rescue Penny and defeat the villains. This was followed in 1990 by The Rescuers Down Under, also featuring such unforgettable characters as Jake the jumping mouse and Frank the collar-necked lizard.
