DISNEY’S SENSATIONAL SIX

The Disney universe evolved from the Mickey Mouse short animated films produced by Disney beginning in 1928. Soon the other characters were added to the films and audiences were introduced to Mickey’s girlfriend Minnie, his dog Pluto, the hot-tempered Donald Duck and his beloved Daisy and, of course, the lanky Goofy. Together, these world-famous Disney cartoon characters make up what is popularly known as the “Sensational Six.” Over the years, their appearance has been changed several times to suit the spirit of the times; however, their characters remain the same. Many unforgettable characters were added to the Disney family in the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company. We were introduced to crowd favorites like Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Moana, the Lion King, Cinderella, Stitch and we could go on and on. All these characters you can also meet in any of the Disney parks worldwide. But the Sensational Six remains as popular as ever and is usually the highlight of shows and parades.

DEPARTMENT 56

Department 56 is a brand known for its highly detailed, lighted Christmas villages and other collectibles for the holidays. It originated as part of Bachman’s, a Minneapolis-based florist. Bachman’s assigned a numbering system “56” to their wholesale gift-import department, thus Department 56. Today, the brand is an industry leader in gift items, collectibles and Christmas decorations. It is known for its handmade villages, Snowbabies figurines and various decorative items, Department 56 said. The brand offers a variety of village series, including the Disney Village, Dickens Village and Harry Potter Village, each with its own unique theme and architectural style.
